Community Health Team client thankful for support that ‘has changed my life for the better’
I cannot thank the Community Health Team enough for all that you have done for me over the last several months. I had given up on my life and had no control over most things in it.
Finding out about the Community Health Team has changed my life for the better!
From your friendly caring smiles, your help in teaching me the importance of making reachable goals and a doable schedule, and being open minded to change. Your navigators have been helpful directing me to the right people for help if I needed it in other areas of my life.
I have learned that physical and emotional well-being are very important for a productive, happy life.
I live alone and your programs have helped me realize the importance of getting out of my four walls and taught me that any movement is always better than no movement and every bit adds up.
You get there step by step, little by little!
You go at your own pace, when you are ready, able, and willing to do more or make changes, you will, and it's okay to have an off day and just pick yourself up the next day. It is important to push a little out of your comfort zone, though, to make changes, which is not always easy but always worth it!
You have such a variety of programs. I can always find one that interests me and that I can learn from. I have also used your exercise videos you provide on your online site. Through your programs, I learned about the Dartmouth North Community Food Centre. I go to meal programs there, which helps me eat better.
Through your programs, I have learned it's okay in life if we need a little help at times and I have learned to reach for it! Your Personal Wellness Profile Program gave me a wake-up call and made me realize just how bad my health and well-being had become and that there was hope for me to improve even with the pain!
I am very grateful for all the help and opportunities I have received as I would not be as well off as I am now without that help and your programs. The programs have taught and helped me to be more at peace on a daily basis no matter what is going on around me or my situation.
When I started the Low Impact Program, I learned the usefulness of a pedometer. I was lucky if I had 1,200 steps in a day and could hardly move around on my bed without pain and was taking pain medication on a regular basis.
Thanks to your programs I realized I wanted to change my attitude on how I thought about things and now I am doing 11,000 steps on most days, have much less pain, very rarely take pain meds and am living a much happier, content life, getting out and about, which is very important, instead of hiding away in my home and life passing me by.
