Programs, services relocating from Townsend Street to Alexandra Street site in Sydney

SYDNEY, N.S. – Some programs and services within Nova Scotia Health Authority (NSHA) will begin relocating to a new building this week.

Starting Friday, Jan. 24 and continuing over the next few weeks, programs and services at 235 Townsend Street in Sydney will relocate to a new building at 795 Alexandra Street, Sydney (Prime Brook site). These programs and services include Child and Adolescent Mental Health & Addiction Services, Public Health, Accounts Receivable Service Centre, Payroll, Facilities Management & Support and Primary Health Care’s administrative offices.

Most of the programs and services have been located on Townsend Street for a number of years. During that time, their needs and operations have changed and require more space. The Alexandra Street/Prime Brook site provides more than 20,000 square feet of space for public health, mental health and addictions programs and offices.

Public Health is scheduled to move to the new location between Feb. 4 and Feb. 6. At the new site, it will continue to hold its well-baby and adult immunization clinics for people without a primary care provider or who have difficulty accessing service. Clinic clients are being contacted directly about the upcoming move. The new facility will also serve as Public Health’s main site for vaccine distribution to other Public Health offices and local primary care providers. Public Health’s main contact line remains the same: 902-563-2400.

Child and Adolescent Mental Health and Addiction Services is scheduled to move to the new location between Feb. 7 and Feb. 9. The program’s team will continue to see clients and provide services as it transitions to its new location. Clients are being contacted directly about changes in location until the team is fully relocated. The main contact line for Child and Adolescent Mental Health and Addiction Services remains the same: 902-567-7731.

NSHA appreciates the public’s patience and cooperation while this relocation is underway and looks forward to providing programs and services at the new location.
