Temporary closure at Eastern Shore Memorial Hospital’s emergency department

SHEET HARBOUR, N.S. – Nova Scotia Health Authority (NSHA) wishes to advise the public that the emergency department at Eastern Shore Memorial Hospital will be closed from 7 p.m. on Monday, August 6 through 8 a.m. on Wednesday, August 8 due to a temporary lack of physician coverage.

Anyone with urgent medical needs should call 911, particularly if experiencing unusual symptoms such as shortness of breath, chest tightness, abdominal pain, persistent headache or dizziness, or an injury requiring stitches or involving a broken bone.

For non-urgent care, please call your family doctor or a walk-in clinic.

For general health advice and information call 811, a service available 24 hours a day, seven days a week by experienced registered nurses.

The Mental Health Crisis Line can also be reached 24/7 by calling 1-888-429-8167.
