The generosity of Nova Scotians continues even after they have passed away, according to a new Organ Donation and Transplantation in Canada report that shows this province has the highest deceased donation rate in the country, based on per million population.
An average nurse lifts the weight of a giraffe – 18 tonnes – in an eight-hour shift. Manually lifting, transferring or repositioning patients is a daily task for many health professionals. It is also a common source of musculoskeletal injury. The Safe Patient Handling and Mobility program was created to address this problem.
From October 2015 to April 2016, we hosted 1,000 people in 42 meetings to figure out how we can be healthier Nova Scotians. This report summarizes the top themes from those many conversations and the thousands of comments we gathered.
