While Nova Scotia Health Authority responds to COVID-19 and gradually reintroduces services and programs, some service areas will continue to be impacted.
  • You can find updates on surgical services reintroduction notices here.
  • Appointments are required for all non-emergency diagnostic imaging services.
  • Cancer and urgent/emergency procedures will continue. You can find updates on Cancer Care Program services reintroduction notices here.
  • Out-patient blood collection services are by appointment only.
  • NSHA’s Mental Health and Addictions Program is open and here to help. The provincial Mental Health Crisis Line is available 24/7 for you or someone you are concerned about, (toll-free) 1-888-429-8167. You can self-refer to our Community Mental Health and Addictions clinics, Withdrawal Management Services, or Opioid Replacement and Treatment Program, call (toll-free) 1-855-922-1122,  weekdays 8:30 to 4:30. This line has voicemail only evenings, weekends, and holidays. If you have mental health or addiction-related concern, please call us. We can help guide you in what steps to take next.   • All Public Health offices are closed to drop-in visitors. Booked appointments will proceed. If you need to rebook an appointment due to illness or self-isolation, please call your local Public Health office.
  • All volunteer involvement/programs at NSHA facilites and services in the Halifax area and West Hants has been suspended until further notice.
  • *Effective Friday, Nov. 27,  the QEII Environmental Services Laboratory will not be accepting water samples for bacteria or chemical analysis for at least a two-week period. Municipal, registered and private water supply owners are advised to send samples to an alternate accredited water testing facility.   • All NSHA libraries are closed
  • All group sessions for primary care and chronic disease management and wellness. That includes group medical visits, diabetes center group visits and classes, and cardiac rehab classes led by primary teams (not the cardiac rehab program in Sydney).
  • Appointments are required for all non-emergency diagnostic imaging services.
  • Appointments are required for out-patient blood collection services and walk-in service is not available.

Friday, Dec. 4

  • X-ray service at St. Mary's Memorial Hospital is closed. It reopens on Monday, Dec. 7 at 8 a.m.
  • Victoria County Memorial Hospital's emergency department reopens at 8 a.m.
  • Glace Bay Hospital's emergency department reopens at 7 a.m. It also closes at 4 p.m. and reopens on Saturday, Dec.5 at 7 a.m.

                  EMERGENCY DEPARTMENTS

                  • All Saints Springhill Hospital - The emergency department is closed until further notice. During daytime hours (7 am to 7 pm, seven days a week), we are operating as an urgent treatment centre treating injuries or illnesses requiring immediate care but not serious enough to require an emergency department. We are open for urgent treatment when a physician is available. Please call the hospital (902-597-3773) in advance to check the status of physician coverage. Those with an emergency should always call 911.

                     
                  • Lillian Fraser Memorial Hospital, Tatamagouche - During daytime hours (8 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday to Friday, and 8 am to 7 pm on Saturday and Sunday), we are operating as an urgent treatment centre treating injuries or illnesses requiring immediate care but not serious enough to require an emergency department. We are open for urgent treatment when a physician is available. Please call the hospital (902-657-2382) in advance to check the status of physician coverage. Booked appointments with a nurse practitioner are available on various days for local unattached patients that require non-urgent care. Those with an emergency should always call 911. The emergency department and overnight CEC are closed until further notice. 
                     
                  • North Cumberland Memorial Hospital, Pugwash - 
During daytime hours (8 am to 8 pm, seven days a week), we are operating as an urgent treatment centre treating injuries or illnesses requiring immediate care but not serious enough to require an emergency department. We are open for urgent treatment when a physician is available. Please call the hospital (902-243-2521) in advance to check the status of physician coverage. During overnight hours (8 pm to 8 am), we operate as a collaborative emergency centre staffed by a paramedic and a registered nurse with physician oversight. Those with an emergency should always call 911.
 The emergency department is closed during the daytime until further notice. 
                     
                  • South Cumberland Community Care Centre, Parrsboro - The emergency department is closed until further notice. During daytime hours, patients of the South Cumberland primary care practice can book an appointment with the next available provider by calling 902-254-2540 extension 2. Others who are not current patients of the primary care team may call 1-855-597-2420 to book an appointment with an available provider. Anyone with general questions may call the hospital at 902-254-2540 extension 1 for clarification on available services. Those with an emergency should always call 911.

                  OTHER SERVICES

                  • Out-patient blood collection services are open however an appointment is required (no drop-ins). If there are interruptions in service, you can find that information here.  Patients wishing to book an appointment online should go to https://booking.nshealth.ca or call 1-833-998-2499.
